Juan Bosch Plaza

The Juan Bosch Plaza has been fundamental to Connectemonos as we have held events such as ‘It’s My Park Day’ throughout the years 2020 - 2021! We have gathered over a dozen volunteers and have been able to host our very own Healing Garden Event back in November 2020, when death rates rose due to COVID-19, attacks from the police, and all in all, drug use. We prize this area as our organization strives to make the Washington Heights - Inwood area a more beautiful space to all!

West 186th St. Basketball Court

The West 186th St. Basketball Court can be found in Uptown, Washington Heights. Because of its long history and our involvement with this court in preserving this space from becoming a parking lot, we hold this basketball court very dear to our hearts. We have toiled in pushing programming and events, such as our Food Distribution back in August 2021, where Summer Youth Employment employees and students, along with the community at large, were able to receive a bag full of greens from our local farmer, Don Feli. Currently, we are facing the issue of remodeling the basketball court’s fence to minimize height while encouraging the community to make it their own!

Our very own green Urban Farm

Found in the back of the GWEC (George Washington Educational Campus), is a green space of 3 acres where Rosa Yolanda Pineda and Omar Gonzalez first found this neglected, underutilized, inaccessible green space. What looked like a deserted area filled with litter had become an opportunistic moment for them both as they envisioned gardens, future student programming, and the community’s very first Urban Farm! Events, ‘It’s My Park Day’ has been held here throughout the years 2020 - 2021, where members of the community coming far and near, had gathered to partner with Connectemonos in ridding of trash, weeds, and litter!
